How to Get to Lam Thuong?
From Hanoi, allow approximately 5 hours of travel: the first part is on the highway to Yen Bai. Then you will travel on winding roads leading to Luc Yen and the main village Tham Luong.
There are also daily buses from Hanoi to Luc Yen with a taxi connection for the last kilometers. For more comfort, opt for a private vehicle with a driver.
An Immersion into Tay Culture

In Lam Thuong, most of the inhabitants belong to the Tay ethnic group. The ethnicity is known for its wooden houses on stilts, its ancestral customs and its legendary hospitality.
Families live essentially from rice cultivation, livestock farming and fishing. Each house is bordered by a fish pond fed by mountain streams.

17 km from Lam Thuong, do not miss the Luc Yen precious stone market. This market is actually very famous throughout the country.
Every morning, local merchants display their rubies, sapphires and semi-precious stones, often raw. Even without purchasing, it is a unique experience to observe local exchanges and negotiations.
