Ha Giang: The Secret Gem of North Vietnam
Table of contents
Located at the far north of Vietnam, on the border with China, Ha Giang is a preserved region and still relatively untouched by tourism. Often called “the last wild bastion of Vietnam,” it fascinates with its grand landscapes, authentic ethnic villages and unique mountain culture.
Breathtaking Panoramas
Ha Giang and the Ha Giang Loop are renowned for their karst mountains, deep valleys and winding roads. The Dong Van Geopark, classified as a UNESCO World Geopark, is the symbol of this natural beauty. The landscapes change with the seasons: green rice fields in spring, flowering buckwheat fields in autumn and mountains shrouded in mist in winter.

A Cultural and Ethnic Mosaic
The province is home to more than 20 ethnic minorities, including Hmong, Dao, Tay and Nung. Each community preserves its own traditions, crafts and colorful costumes. Local markets, such as those in Dong Van or Meo Vac, are lively places where commerce, music, dance and warm encounters intertwine.
