Young woman making a phone call

In preparation for the trip, many of our clients express their concern to us, namely how to ensure good contact with their family during their entire trip away. We assure you that today it’s all very simple.

Currently, there are many telecommunications networks such as: internet, mobile phone, post office, television network, computer network, switched telephone network, worldwide telex network, etc…

Internet

While traveling, you can find internet cafes everywhere in Vietnam, even in small towns in the countryside or in the mountains, it costs about 4,000 dong for an hour at an internet cafe. Cafes, restaurants, popular coffee shops, and even quality buses offer their customers free WIFI. You can connect to the internet on the spot with your laptop or your mobile phone.

Mobile Phone

Before, it was difficult to contact your family when traveling abroad because almost all mobile phones were locked. Today, it’s quite different. With the “World” option, you can use your mobile phone working in Vietnam, as well as in Laos or Cambodia. For tri-band phones, they unlock easily through a provider in your country. Then, in Vietnam, with a local SIM card with credit value. When the card runs out of credit, you can recharge at the post office or in small phone shops.

In Vietnam, there are today 3 major telecommunications operators: Vinaphone, Mobifone, and Viettel. They offer rechargeable cards at various amounts: 10,000 – 20,000 – 50,000 – 100,000 – 200,000 – 500,000 dong. The rate for a call abroad is about 3,500 dong per minute.

Post Office

Apart from these two networks mentioned above, you can also make calls at post offices. In large cities, there are several post offices in each district. Even in smaller towns, there is often a large central post office. Telephone booths are available, with a counter inside that allows you to know the exact amount during the call. The amount is then paid at the counter.

Private Shop

In telecommunications shops, telephone booths are often offered, but their rate can be much higher than that of the Post Office. Also, hotels often offer these services, national or international, obviously their rate is double that of the official Post Office rate.
