Humanitarian Journey in Chieng Son Commune, Son La 12-13/04/2025

Located in the heart of the mountains of Moc Chau district, Son La province, Chieng Son commune is a border territory still marked by difficulties in accessing medical care and essential infrastructure. It is in this mountainous, sometimes austere context that on April 12 and 13, 2025, an exceptional humanitarian mission took place, at the joint initiative of numerous volunteer groups, companies, and healthcare professionals, with the active participation of Horizon Vietnam Travel.

A New Light for Border Villages

In this mountainous, isolated region, still lacking modern infrastructure, darkness falls quickly already in the late afternoon. Thanks to the support of numerous partners, 50 powerful solar lamps (800W) accompanied by 50 poles were installed along the roads leading to border guard posts and isolated villages.

These installations, simple but essential, now allow soldiers to patrol in better conditions and residents to move more freely, even at night. For many families, this is the first time such infrastructure has been implemented in their village. Light thus becomes a symbol of progress, of recovered dignity, and above all, of connection.

Over 800 Free Medical Consultations

Another fundamental pillar of the mission concerned access to medical care, still too rare in this mountainous region. More than 60 volunteer doctors from across the country – Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Kien Giang, An Giang… – mobilized to offer free consultations to the local population.

Coming from prestigious hospitals such as Hanoi University of Medicine, Vietnam-Germany Hospital (Viet Duc), Central Maternity, or Thanh Nhan Hospital, these professionals conducted clinical examinations, ultrasounds, screenings, and distributed appropriate medicines. Initially planned for 400 people, the mission ultimately enabled more than 800 inhabitants to receive care, demonstrating the trust placed in us by the community.

Essential Goods

In addition to medical care, the team prepared and distributed 400 packages containing essential goods. Each package included simple but necessary elements for daily life: rice, cooking oil,… These aids were delivered directly to the most vulnerable families in Chieng Son: modest family units, elderly people living alone, parents in difficulty, or former combatants.

On April 12 and 13, 2025, in Chieng Son, hundreds of inhabitants were able to receive free medical care, essential goods, and benefit from better lighting in their daily lives thanks to the installation of solar lamps. This collective action, carried out with the support of volunteer doctors, associations, and engaged companies, made it possible to offer concrete and immediate support to a commune still marked by numerous difficulties. Horizon Vietnam Travel is pleased to have taken part in this solidarity initiative and will continue its commitment alongside local communities, with simple but useful actions, where real needs exist.
