August 24, 2025: Horizon Vietnam in Ca Village (Yen Bai) with “Your Luggage, Vietnamese Children’s Future”

Nearly three months after the launch of the “Your Luggage, Vietnamese Children’s Future” campaign, one hundred fifty-five groups of travelers had already provided support by offering school supplies. It was in this context that Horizon Vietnam organized, on Sunday, August 24, 2025, a second distribution in Ca Village, in Yen Bai province.

Located in a mountainous area of Yen Bai province, Ca Village is characterized by still-modest living conditions. Access there remains difficult: roads are narrow, steep, and unsuitable for large vehicles, which complicates the transportation of goods and supplies.

Families live mainly on subsistence agriculture, with often unstable and limited incomes. This reality translates into difficulty in covering some essential needs, particularly regarding school supplies for children. In this context, many students must start the school year with limited means, which represents an obstacle to their learning and motivation. It is in this environment that Horizon Vietnam’s action is inserted, in support of families’ and local authorities’ efforts, in order to contribute, however modestly, to improving the schooling conditions of children in the village.

Access to the village remaining difficult, particularly due to narrow and steep roads, the transportation of donations required the support of the local population. Residents thus ensured transportation by motorbike from the main road, allowing the constraints related to larger vehicles to be bypassed. Thanks to this cooperation, all packages arrived safely to the students, ensuring that each child received their complete school kit.

Thanks to the contribution of travelers as part of the “Your Luggage, Vietnamese Children’s Future” campaign and the commitment of the Horizon Vietnam team, over two hundred children, from kindergarten to middle school, benefited from concrete support during this distribution.

Each student received a new backpack, accompanied by a complete set of school supplies including notebooks, A4 paper, rulers, pens, and pencils. These kits, carefully prepared, aimed to meet students’ essential needs and provide them with better conditions to start the new school year. This action also aimed to lighten, as much as possible, the burden on families and encourage children to continue their schooling with greater confidence and motivation.

Before the distribution of school supplies, a convivial moment was organized for the children. They were able to share snacks and a meal consisting of fried chicken, sausages, and soft drinks. This meal, which may seem common to many, remains however a rare pleasure for children in the village. By offering it on the occasion of this day, we wanted to allow them to savor these simple but appreciated foods, as a small celebration before the start of the new school year.

Throughout the entire day, the laughter, curiosity, and enthusiasm of the children gave full meaning to this initiative. Each smile reminded us that the essential was right there: to provide concrete help, in a spirit of respect and closeness, and to encourage students to continue their schooling under better conditions.

Our thanks also go to local authorities and the village’s inhabitants, whose logistical support and cooperation were decisive for the success of this distribution.
