Support for Residents of Son La and Dien Bien After Typhoon Wipha – August 2025
Table of contents
At the end of July 2025, Typhoon Wipha struck northern and central Vietnam, causing prolonged heavy rains. In the mountainous provinces of Son La and Dien Bien, the consequences were particularly dramatic: sudden floods, landslides, broken roads, and entire villages isolated. Hundreds of families found themselves without shelter, deprived of food and drinking water.
Faced with this emergency situation, Horizon Vietnam, in collaboration with the Tam Hoa Sen group and other humanitarian organizations, launched a solidarity operation. In just a few days, a significant collection made it possible to gather almost 700 million VND in goods and financial aid.
Two humanitarian convoys were organized:

- In Son La, an initial shipment made it possible to distribute relief packages worth a total of 306 million VND to residents of Suoi Mot commune.

- In Dien Bien, a second convoy brought aid worth 369 million VND to Xa Dung commune.
The 600 relief packages included rice, noodles, oil, raincoats, warm blankets, and other essential products. Each package was not just material aid, but also a symbol of an outstretched hand and moral support in hardship.

The radiant smiles of residents after receiving donations warms hearts
The preparation and distribution of this aid mobilized a vast network of volunteers, businesses, and benefactors, united in a true chain of solidarity. Despite logistical difficulties and the urgency of the situation, everyone acted with a shared conviction: “Leave no one behind.”
For Horizon Vietnam, this is not a one-time operation, but an expression of a lasting vision: that of strengthening human bonds and reminding people that solidarity remains a fundamental value. These actions taken in the aftermath of Typhoon Wipha testify to the fact that, in the face of disasters, brotherhood and mutual aid are the most powerful and most enduring forces.
